Who We Actually Are
porlexivon started in 2018 when two finance professionals got tired of watching talented analysts struggle with valuation fundamentals that should have been straightforward. We'd both spent years in investment banking and private equity, and the gap between what universities taught and what the industry needed was obvious.
So we built something different. Not another course promising shortcuts or certification mills. Just practical, honest training in the valuation techniques that financial analysts use every single day.
From Spreadsheets to Structure
Back in 2017, Callum was reviewing analyst work at a mid-sized advisory firm in Sydney. He noticed the same mistakes appearing week after week. Not careless errors — just gaps in understanding core concepts like terminal value calculations and appropriate discount rate selection.
Around the same time, Jasper was mentoring junior analysts at a boutique fund and seeing identical issues. The two met at a CFA Society event and spent three hours dissecting what was going wrong in financial education.
Turned out, most courses focused on theory or exam prep but skipped the messy reality of building models under time pressure with incomplete data. They decided to create training that filled that space.
What Actually Matters to Us
No Fluff Approach
We teach what works in real valuation scenarios. If a technique doesn't appear in actual analyst work, it doesn't make our curriculum.
Honest Limitations
Every valuation method has weaknesses. We discuss them openly instead of pretending one approach solves everything.
Practical First
Theory matters, but only when it connects to building better models. We start with the spreadsheet and work backwards to concepts.
I spent two years doing valuations before taking this program. Wish I'd found it earlier — would have saved me from some embarrassing model errors and a lot of late nights fixing preventable mistakes.
